Elective Rotations for Residents and Clinical Fellows: Resident Electives
Endocrine Oncology/Surgery

Four to Eight Week Session

Course Coordinator:
Electron Kebebew, M.D.

Residents must be currently enrolled, and in good standing, in an Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited program in the United States (US) at the time of application for an elective rotation. A Program Letter of Agreement must be provided by the resident's program director. In addition, foreign medical school graduates must have ECFMG certification and provide a copy of the validated ECFMG certificate.

Gain knowledge and understanding of endocrine neoplasm diagnosis and treatment

Learn clinical research methods and gain exposure to experimental therapeutic clinical trial

Develop knowledge of familial cancer syndromes and understand the role of genetic counseling and testing

Develop an appreciation of the current controversies and current areas of research in endocrine oncology

Gain knowledge in the surgical treatment of endocrine neoplasms.

Selection of Applicants

Applicants will be selected based on review of their credentials and cover letters, which should outline their goals for the rotation. Availability may be limited due to programmatic constraints.

This is a highly specialized rotation in Endocrine Oncology/Surgery. Only residents with experience and/or interest in endocrine oncology or surgery will be considered and possibly selected, on an occasional basis.
