Working under the direct supervision of VNSNY Registered Nurse(s) or Specialist(s), the Rehab Scholar Intern will be responsible for participating in one or more of the following areas within a specific program: Service Delivery, Health Education, Operations and other Learning Experiences. The Rehab Scholar Intern may assist in: 1) the identification, assessment and delivery of patient care 2) the creation of effective teaching materials and beneficial health promotion activities for patients consistent with VNSNY philosophy, policy, objectives, and physical and occupational therapy standards of practice 3) the review of documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulation 4) the coordination of day-to-day activities 5) entering, collecting, researching, compiling and/or verifying data and developing, running and/or monitoring related reports 6) identifying problems and resolving/escalating issues as necessary.

PT and OT students, learn all about home health care this summer at Visiting Nurse Service of New York. Attend guided learning field days, interprofessional lectures, and work in the exciting environment of hospitals under the mentorship of expert nurses and clinicians. This program runs from June 17th to August 9th, 2013 and the salary is 18 dollars an hour.Required interest in Home Health Care and Home-based physical or occupational therapy as a Career. Education: Currently enrolled in/entering final year of an accredited PT/OT program. GPA 3.0 or higher required. Proficiency with personal computer required. Intermediate level Word and Excel proficiency required. Effective oral/written communication and presentation skills required.
