This is Position # 82419100, working Monday through Friday, 8-5. Performs para-professional rehabilitation therapy work under the supervision of a clinically credentialed rehabilitation professional. Assists in the development of assigned programs. Conducts or assists in conducting therapeutic activities for individuals or groups. Plans special activities according to the patient’s needs. Completes documentation and duties related to program planning and instructional services. Takes responsibility for care and maintenance of Rehabilitation Therapies equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
Develops and implements programming to enable patients to receive the training, education, and resources needed to live outside the hospital. Monitors programming areas to ensure a safe environment is maintained for the patients and staff. Provides coordination support for the Rehabilitation Therapies staff to ensure competent coverage/functioning is maintained. Compiles reports and documentation of patient progress in order to improve quality of service delivery. Meets training/inservice requirements to stay current in area of expertise, to ensure and promote competence and occupational development. Serves on departmental/hospital committees and special projects as appointed, in order to assure quality service to our customers.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. 5%
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Experience and/or training working with individuals who have psychiatric diagnosis, substance abuse issues, and/or other special needs. Experience and/or training leading group discussions or activities. General understanding of treatment needs and therapeutic methods/techniques for rehabilitation of individuals with psychiatric illness. Ability to follow hospital policies and procedures, to plan work activities, to understand and carry out instructions, to maintain records, to prepare concise reports and to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form. Ability to type 25 wpm.
Preferred Skills: Conversational Spanish, Plays accompaniment instrument (guitar or piano), Experience/training addressing mental health recovery or substance abuse issues, Experience/training adapting for special needs in a group setting
