Directly responsible for inspection of incoming and in-process materials. Must be capable of using a full range of complex precision tools and inspection techniques.

Work with Engineering, Production, and Program to determine inspection requirements and develop inspection processes for incoming & in-process materials based on those requirements. Document nonconforming materials and coordinate disposition of materials. Will also maintain Calibration records, ECO records, document manufacturing processes, supporting hazardous waste compliance, and audit processes for compliance to ISO 9001:2008 (or other systems adopted by the company) and to regulatory requirements.

Under direction of Quality Manager, work with manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing to identify and resolve manufacturing specification problems such as clarity of prints, definitions and statements, incorrect revision levels, etc. Provide inputs towards reducing end-product cost, train assembly or other personnel as required for new processes, procedures and products.

Required Skills:
3+ Years of Quality Experience in a leadership role Hands on use of various mechanical measuring tools: (e.g. Calipers, micrometers, gauge pins & blocks, height gauges, CMM, optical comparator, interferometerÂ…) Read and interpret Blueprints/Schematics/Test Data/ASME Y14.5/contracts/ etc. Familiarity with first article inspection and qualification of products in a defense contract environment Strong follow-up skills to assure closure of projects Ability to drive closure of non-conforming material via identification of causes and implementation of corrective actions Advanced Level Computer Skills (e.g. MS Word/Outlook/Excel/Power Point, etc.) Documenting manufacturing processes Lifting objects on the order of 20 pounds and movement of full 55 gal drums (with appropriate equipment) will be required on a recurring basis. Provide strong leadership role in resolving quality and compliance issues. Working familiarity with SPC, 6 Sigma, lean Manufacturing, FEMA, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA. Preferred Skills:
Aerospace/Defense/Optics Industry Experience Is a Plus Familiarity with inspection of optics and optical coatings and familiarity with testing of electronic assemblies is a plus. Familiarity with setup/inspection using Coordinate Measuring Machines (Zeiss experience preferred)
