King County’s Business Resource Center (BRC) is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join the DBA group in the BRC Shared Services Team to perform database administration duties for the county’s PeopleSoft HR/Payroll system. The person in this position will also act as a backup DBA for the Oracle E-Business Suite financial and for the Hyperion budget systems. King County recently implemented all three enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems county wide in January 2012.
As a senior level DBA, you will monitor and manage database and middleware operations to maximize system availability, improve performance and to manage back-up and recovery operations. The person in this position will develop and maintain shell scripts to automate system administration tasks or to provide proactive alerts.
This senior DBA will coordinate with IT and system owners as needed for ongoing management of service requests and correction of system issues. The DBA group in which this position belongs also supports the integration technology used by PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS and Hyperion. These include PeopleSoft Integration Broker, Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) technologies.
As a Senior DBA in the Business Resource Center, you will participate in supporting future business initiatives. The county anticipates ongoing evolution of the three ERP systems supported by the Business Resource Center including major system upgrades. Future BRC projects may also include development of data marts/warehouses and implementing advanced reporting capabilities across EBS, PeopleSoft, and Hyperion. The DBA team will provide support to these initiatives. Our ideal candidate is a good communicator and an intellectually agile problem-solver able to deal with complex concepts comfortably. He or she will be able to retain composure and work well in a team of DBAs. As a member of that team this DBA will work to seek standard practices, participate in cross training and share solutions to facilitate consistent support of the three ERP systems.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is not overtime-eligible . This position is paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday . This position may be required to work extended and/or flex scheduled work hours to respond to service needs.

Job Duties:
Proactive support of Oracle and SQL Server databases: Serve as primary Database Administrator for the PeopleSoft HR/Payroll and backup for BRC DBAs who support Oracle E-Business Suite Finance system and Hyperion Budget System. Support includes but is not limited to:
Monitoring and managing database operations
Performance tuning of database and SQL to improve application performance
Troubleshoot and resolve of database and system issues
Creating new database instances and cloning or refreshing of existing data instances
Application and patch installs
Backup and recovery of Oracle and SQL Server databases
Monitor and maintain database security and access Support application middleware technologies and integration: Monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, configuration, patching of middleware including PeopleSoft’s Integration Broker middleware and web servers, Oracle’s WebLogic, Oracle Internet Application Server (IAS) and Oracle’s Business Process Execution Language integration services. Develop and maintain Linux shell and batch scripts to automate the creation of new instances, create alerts to proactively recognize issues and send notifications, and to automate system administration tasks. Coordinate with King County’s IT Systems Engineering and Networks teams, System Owners and BRC teams as needed for ongoing management of service requests and correction of system issues. Lead or participate in technology projects and system upgrades . Provide database and system administrative services for technology initiatives. Planning and Design work to include :

database design and architecture
forecasting space growth
sizing and hardware planning
security design
plan for upgrades and future system requirements Work with other BRC DBAs to:
seek standard practices
participate in cross training
share solutions to facilitate ease of acting as database administrator for any of the three ERP systems: PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS Finance and Hyperion budget systems
develop operations and procedures documentation for use by DBA and BRC teams

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
REQUIRED:
At least four years of professional experience as an Oracle Database Administrator supporting enterprise business systems.
At least two years of professional experience as an Oracle DBA for PeopleSoft systems preferably a PeopleSoft implementation that includes HR, Payroll and Time & Labor functionality.
Expert level of knowledge on Oracle Database technologies
Professional experience installing and patching Oracle databases and PeopleSoft systems.
Professional experience developing Linux/Unix shell scripts used to pro-actively manage system availability and performance or to automate system administration tasks.
Expert level of SQL*Plus skills.
Experienced and skill using Oracle Enterprise Manager and performing DBA tasks using command line functions.
Professional experience with performance tuning.
Experience and skills troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
Skill and experience with database design and architecture, security design, forecasting space growth and participating in hardware sizing and planning.
Strong verbal and written communication skills DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field.
Professional experience as DBA for Oracle E-Business Suite finance system and/or Hyperion budget systems.
Knowledge of Windows, Windows scripting, and DBA experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server.
Professional experience as a DBA supporting Essbase or other OLAP databases.
Professional experience monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, configuration, patching of one or more of the following middle-ware technologies: o PeopleSoft’s Integration Broker and web servers
o Oracle’s Weblogic o Oracle Internet Application Server (IAS)
o Oracle’s Business Process Execution Language integration services (BPEL 11g 9or 10g),
o Oracle’s Data Integrator (ODI)
o Oracle SOA Suite
Professional experience implementing data warehousing solutions to support Business Intelligence reporting.
Experience providing DBA services during a major upgrade project for an enterprise system
