WORK SETTING: The incumbent will function under the minimal supervision of the SSS III Supervisor within the Business Information Systems Project (BIS) performing various SISA duties. The Staff Information Systems Analyst (SISA) is expected to work independently in fulfilling desktop related duties with primary support to the BIS Functional and Technical Team members. The SISA will address complex functions within the BIS unit for service disruption management, service request management and/or project management. These functions include, but are not limited to completing and monitoring incidents/service requests related to desktop and network services, facilitating meetings, identifying and obtaining commitments from personnel with subject matter expertise, and monitoring status of service disruptions, service requests and/or projects.

The common goal of the BIS project is to implement an integrated, standardized, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for the Department. The Staff Information Systems Analyst is responsible for the actual migration of database changes and assessing the impact of changes related to the database and other change requests. In addition, the position is responsible for implementing, testing, and promoting change requests and submitting completed change requests.

KNOWLEDGE: This is a journey level position and the SISA must have knowledge of electronic computer systems (software) programming, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. The SISA serves as the advanced technical specialist performing complex analytical studies and activities on complex IT systems and projects. The SISA must have knowledge of all electronic data processing equipment and its capabilities and interfaces between hardware and software; and has advanced experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and implementation of complex computer systems.

Knowledge and experience includes Microsoft’s Windows operating system platforms, systems security policies, Telecommunications Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Windows Internet Naming Service, Dynamic Naming Service; wide and local area networks; and computing environments from centralized to Client/Server.

The SISA is familiar with remote systems management techniques and products, as well as managing multiple CPU systems, private and public volume management, disk striping and parity, defragmentation measures, memory management, and CPU performance balancing and tuning.

The SISA is also a subject matter expert with three or more of the following special purpose vendor supplied software packages:

? Microsoft’s Exchange messaging application;

? Microsoft’s Internet Information Server;

? McAfee’s virus protection suite;

? Active Directory Network Administration Tool;

? Symantec Ghost Imaging Software;

? Remote Access Tools (e.g., Dameware, MS Remote Desktop, etc.).
