Provide professional nursing care to patients in an assigned unit
Work in a challenging environment providing critical care in the children’s hospital to newborn infants, toddlers, school age children, teens and young adults.
Be accountable for the delivery and supervision of safe, quality care that is individualized for their assigned patients and follows the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act (assessment, planning implementation, evaluation).
Perform all duties in a manner that respects and supports the family centered care model.
Qualifications for this position include:
Must be a graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing.
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska at time of hire.
BLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
Must have at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute inpatient pediatric unit, or neonatal or adult critical care
Preferred candidates will possess a minimum of 1 year experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Schedule varies to meet department needs. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, and work with a variety of health unit teams in a fast paced setting.

The Pediatric Center is dedicated to providing a full range of services to infants through young adults by using the latest medical equipment and technologies. We are committed to working with children, families and professional staff to create a comfortable setting to help families through the hospitalization of their child while maintaining the highest quality of care specific to each patients needs. Parents are welcome and encouraged to be with their child and participate in their child's care at all times.
The Pediatric Center is made up of two sister units that share common support space and professional staff.
The Pediatric Intensive Care is a 9-bed unit for children with critical illnesses or injuries and is the only place of its’ kind in the state of Alaska.
The Pediatric Unit is a 17-bed unit designed to meet the needs of families and children requiring hospital care for surgical, trauma, cardiac, endocrine, oncology, neurology and all other medical problems.
