The Manager, Data and Reporting has oversight for a diverse team of associates with analytical and data specialist roles within the TPD Business Solutions and Analytics (BSA) group. This team is responsible for driving business, client, and marketing intelligence for the TPD business unit. In this capacity, the incumbent seeks to build an analytical culture within TPD to facilitate data driven decisions and create actionable wisdom. The incumbent partners with key TPD stakeholders in the various divisional subgroups as well as other TRP business units and shared services teams to assess, understand, and deliver actionable, fact-based strategic and tactical analyses and business cases that help direct & support the decisions and activities of TPD management, internal channel partners, and business groups. The incumbent also oversees TPD’s data stewardship and governance efforts with regard to usage of various data systems, including the TRP AUM system, a critical platform tool for a significant portion of TPD reporting and analytical activities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Management & Leadership: The incumbent partners with the BSA Section manager as well as key stakeholders of the TPD leadership and management teams to develop and execute BSA’s long-term objectives and goals. Continually drives for team results as well as to move the business forward by directing the activities of the RA team to inform and support TPD’s overall distribution and marketing strategies and goals. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the tactical execution of the BSA group and RA teams’ annual business plan and objectives, day-to-day coordination and prioritization of team activities, as well as the talent management, development, performance, and support of the team’s associates.The incumbent will ensure the effective management and execution of team’s moderate to highly complex internal projects and/or analytical initiatives. Responsibilities in this area may include the coordination, oversight and/or execution of project scoping, requirements development, testing, implementation and post-implementation support.

In this role, the BSA incumbent must exhibit sound business judgment, technical knowledge and project management experience to navigate challenges and exercise influence and persuasion where appropriate to successfully complete projects on time and within any established budgets. The incumbent must regularly assess risks related to changes in requirements, systems, conflicting activities, and customer impacts for those changes. Makes recommendations to BSA Manager on course of action based on actionable data and thoughtful consideration of alternatives.Provides BSA manager with timely, data supported team metrics, KPI’s, and regular project status updates to help support key business and staffing decisions and inform BSA manager and TPD management.

Relationship Management: The incumbent acts in the capacity of relationship manager, building and sustaining trusted partnerships with TPD business and channel partners to continually assess their satisfaction with the direction of BSA analytical initiatives, credibility levels of RA associates, and the quality of team deliverables, activities, and interactions. Responsible for consulting and working with BSA Section manager, TPD stakeholders and TPD leadership to understand current goals, needs, and business objectives as well as create opportunities to unearth unstated needs and seek input for future direction. Makes proactive recommendations and provides input into TPD BSA business plans based on knowledge of stakeholder and business unit needs. Clarifies and validates communicated business needs for new and/or enhanced reporting and analytical products. Assists BSA manager to bridge TPD business strategy and objectives with technical strategy and provides business unit perspective and consultancy to GBST partners for planning, budgeting for business process and technology development efforts.

Analytical Projects: Manages/oversees and contributes to sophisticated and complex analytical projects that support current and future business goals and strategies, drive key decisions, or support key divisional initiatives. Typical projects might cover areas such as:
  • Impact/ROI/benchmark analysis for TPD business, sales and marketing activities or initiatives
  • Client/Prospect segmentation and other marketing analytics activities
  • Prospect scoring and predictive modeling
  • Product pricing & competitive analysis
  • Customer Value/Sales Lifecycle
  • Sales team coverage models, territory analysis and design
  • Client Retention/Risk reviews
  • Compliance analysis and reviews
The incumbent will provide experienced guidance to the RA team to identify and implement the appropriate analytical technique, including but not limited to, segmentation, modeling (decision tree, regression, neural net, etc…), ‘what if’ analysis, optimization, etc… Provides direction and support and utilizes influence and professional network to assist team to identify internal and external subject matter experts with specialized knowledge in the area of analysis. Provides related coaching and direction as needed to members of the RA team. Ensures that analyses are designed to be actionable and that the project includes a plan for deployment and communication.

Other Special Projects and Project Management: Incumbent will take a lead role or serve as a primary contributor/stakeholder in projects related to developing TPD’s data infrastructure and data strategy including identifying sources/repositories, systems, business processes, and/or report enhancements, as needed to support TPD’s long-term intelligence capabilities. Projects may typically span weeks and/or months and may involve coordination with both TPD and various levels of external business unit resources, primarily within GBST and other shared service enterprise teams. Projects have a strong focus on data stewardship and integration, as well as analytical output enhancements and delivery automation, business process resources, and other technology tools and platforms. Business process and enhancement work may be complex in nature and typically relates to the department’s core data and analytical initiatives. Results have an impact on at least one or more groups within TPD and, on occasion, outside the department.

Provides expertise related to database and data integration efforts. Analyzes data and information needs to aid in the recommendation and implementation of solutions. Analyzes existing processes for efficiency and effectiveness. May collaborate with internal TPD partners, shared services, and GBS&T associates throughout various stages of the project ranging from project planning and coordination, requirements gathering, testing, training, implementing, documenting or communicating where appropriate.

Intelligence & Insights / Report Development: Applies technical and business knowledge to define and deliver on TPD’s business, customer, and marketing intelligence needs. Designs and delivers complex and sophisticated ad hoc reporting, analytical output, along with first level interpretations to provide insights and support decision-making by business group managers and division leaders. Interprets data and relates it to business strategies, recommends new key performance indicators and other metrics to support the management of TPD’s core activities and key initiatives.
