As the Principal Architect on the team, you will provide technical leadership to the team in all stages of our engineering lifecycle - from initial research and discovery, quick iteration on promising concepts, solution prototyping and development, all the way through successful service roll out to other Rosetta Stone teams. Our results will be refined by exploiting data and we are passionate about having a culture of learning fast and constantly iterating towards success. You will play a major role in influencing the technical direction and work on the team while building a technically strong team. We are looking for a distributed systems infrastructure architect, specializing in high scalability, high availability, and high throughput. This critical role requires deep experience in distributed systems architecture, group communication systems, and non-stop server designs.
If you are excited about the rapid developments in cloud computing and distributed applications and you want to be a key participant in accelerating software development across Rosetta Stone, then this job is for you. You will be part of a nascent team focused on increasing engineering agility by moving software development and testing from the desktop to the cloud. You will work with talented engineers and collaborate with Research and Product groups to architect, design, and implement foundational engineering infrastructure. We like big challenges and have a high-performance team. As a part of this team, you will work in rapid-paced and environment shipping services and collaborating closely with internal partners who are building on our technology.
We are currently working building the foundation infrastructure for cloud-based engineering systems starting with build and then followed by test and code analytics. We have aggressive timelines and are actively partnering with product groups across the company.
The position is full-time and can be based in our San Francisco, Austin, Boulder, Arlington or Harrisonburg offices.
•12+ years of hands-on coding experience shipping products across multiple product cycles.
•Excellent architecture/design and coding skills with a bias for architecting at scale.
•Effective technical leadership skills to deliver projects at high quality and on time.
•Deep expertise in compilers, development tools and software verification.
•Proven ability to collaborate and team effectively.
•Experience creating, developing, delivering, deploying, maintaining and/or operating online services, services platforms, and/or services infrastructure.
•Industry experience working with service engineering technologies.
•Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
•Proficiency in C++/C#/Java. Knowledge of functional programming languages is a plus.
•Experience with kernel level and file systems programming.
•Experience in development tools, compilers and linkers.
•Experience in engineering systems.
•Experience with cloud computing platforms.
•Track record of excellent communication, collaboration and cross-group skills,
•Track record of having worked with a range of platforms and technologies.
•Track record of delivering results.
