The Project Engineer manages design, test, and production and assists Design Engineers in the development process. This position directs engineering projects and teams as assigned by the Engineered Solutions Manager and develops and assists Design Engineers in developing training. The position also serves as a connection between manufacturing, purchasing, service, sales, dealers and customers aspects of the Company.
Essential duties and responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervise product development and design activities through direct contact with design personnel.
Define, develop and lead multiple engineering projects from prototype development through production implementation, including field follow-up.
Design parts and detail using Solid Works and AutoCAD.
Develop and maintain prioritized task and project lists for direct reports.
Ensure required testing is performed on new and redesigned equipment.
Manage employees on engineering team, including performance management, disciplining and interviewing new employees.
Train dealers and Territory Managers on products to increase product knowledge.
Interpret FEA/testing results.
Review and approve service, operators, maintenance and parts manuals.
Travel is required and may include working nights and weekends. Occasional domestic and/or international travel by car or air transportation is required to gather voice of customer data, attend trade shows, test equipment, and to address issues with equipment in the field.
Qualifications
4-year college degree Major: Engineering
5-10 years previous job experience and/or training.
Proficient with multiple software packages including, but not limited to, Solid Works, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel, Access and Word, SmarTeam, PowerPoint, MathCAD, CHESS, Outlook, Cognos, E-mail and Ease (somat).
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to proficiently operate agricultural tractor, shop hand tools, portable power units and other applicable machines.
Ability to function productively with all internal and external personnel to manage, design, build, sell, service and operate machines.
Ability to integrate machine performance, costs, manufacturability and reliability which is a direct link to the Company
Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness.
Ability to provide accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.
Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, including continuous improvement and lean, FEA evaluation, stress analysis, hydraulics, electrical systems, design and manufacturing processes.
Ability to achieve goals in the product development process, which include gross margin, cost, reliability and performance for each particular project and annual critical success factors (CSFs) to support the Company's yearly directives.
Ability to effectively manage project development and engineering teams to complete projects on time and within budget.
Ability to supervise staff in the performance of duties such that performance meets or exceeds expectations.

Fundamentals of Engineering Examination preferred.
