King County’s Business Resource Center (BRC) is seeking a master level Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join the DBA group in the BRC Shared Services Team to perform database administration duties for the county’s Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) financial system. The DBA Master position is the highest level database administrator serving as primary Database and Middleware Administrator for the Oracle EBS system. As a member of the DBA team, the successful candidate will also act as backup DBA to support the PeopleSoft HR/Payroll and Hyperion Budget systems. In addition, they will serve as technical expert to lead project work for future business initiatives including major upgrades. Future BRC projects may also include development of data marts/warehouses and implementing advanced reporting capabilities across Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, and Hyperion. Each of the BRC’s DBAs administer, patch and support Oracle middleware, integration and reporting tools that include technologies such as WebLogic, BPEL, PeopleSoft Integration Broker and Oracle’s BI Publisher and Discoverer. As master level DBA, they will Coordinate with King County’s IT Systems Engineering and Networks teams to plan and implement disk storage expansion, technical architecture planning, server and storage patching, firewall rule requests, and other IT technology initiatives. WORK SCHEDULE: This position is not overtime-eligible . This position is paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday . This position may be required to work extended and/or flex scheduled work hours to respond to service needs.

Job Duties:
  • Proactive support of Oracle databases : Serve as primary Database Administrator for the Oracle E-Business Suite Finance system and backup for BRC DBAs who support the PeopleSoft and Hyperion Budget systems. Support includes but is not limited to: · Maximize system availability and managing database operations · Performance tuning of database and SQL to improve application performance · Troubleshoot and resolve of database and system issues · Creating new database instances and cloning or refreshing of existing data instances · Application and patch installs · Manage backup and recovery of Oracle databases · Monitor and maintain database security and access · As an Oracle Financial Application DBA , monitor and tune Oracle Applications and perform a variety of system administration tasks that may include: · Design all new or changes to existing security responsibilities · Administer Concurrent Manager – request sets and job scheduling · Creating new EBS menus and form personalizations · Enabling, disabling and changing profile options · Proactively support application middleware technologies and integration: Monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, configuration, patching of middleware and web servers including Web Logic, Oracle’s Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) integration services and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) technologies . · Proactively support the Oracle financial reporting tools : Oracle’s BI Publisher and Oracle Discoverer. · Set standards for automating system administration tasks . Develop and maintain Linux shell and batch scripts to automate the creation of new instances, create alerts to proactively recognize issues and send notifications, and to automate system administration tasks. · Lead or participate in technology projects and system upgrades. Provide database and system administrative services for technology initiatives. · Planning and design work including database design and architecture, forecasting space growth, sizing and hardware planning, security design, and to plan for upgrades and future system requirements.
  • Coordinate with King County’s IT Systems Engineering and Networks teams to plan and implement disk storage expansion, technical architecture planning, server and storage patching, firewall rule requests, and other IT technology initiatives. · Promote standard practices and serve as technical expert; provide leadership, technical and project direction; and trains and guides senior IT staff. · Initiate DBA team cross training and simulations . Develop operations and procedures documentation for use by DBA and BRC teams.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Six or more years of professional experience as Oracle Database Administrator supporting enterprise business systems. · Two or more years of professional experience as DBA for Oracle E-Business Suite financial system. · Experience leading and mentoring technical IT staff · Expert level of knowledge on Oracle Database technologies including installing and patching Oracle databases · Experience with primary responsibility for physical database structures, data integrity, performance, quality, recoverability, maintenance and performance tuning. · Experience and understanding of Oracle EBS system administration tasks including maintenance of Oracle concurrent manager, request sets and job scheduling; design and maintenance of security responsibilities, profile options, menus and form personalizations. · Experience forecasting capacity needs and coordinating with IT systems engineers and network teams to implement disk storage expansion, technical architecture planning, server and storage patching, firewall rule requests, and other IT technology initiatives. · Professional experience developing Linux/Unix shell scripts used to proactively manage system availability and performance or to automate system administration tasks. · Expert level of SQL*Plus skills. o Experienced and skill using Oracle Enterprise Manager and performing DBA tasks using command line functions. · Experience and skills troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues. · Strong verbal and written communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Experience performing DBA duties during a major Oracle EBS upgrade project. · Professional experience as DBA for PeopleSoft system, Hyperion budget system or Essbase OLAP databases. · Knowledge of Windows, Windows scripting, and DBA experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server. · Professional experience monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, configuration, patching of one or more of the following middleware technologies: o Oracle’s WebLogic o Oracle’s Business Process Execution Language integration services (BPEL 11g 9or 10g), o Oracle’s Data Integrator (ODI) o Oracle SOA Suite o PeopleSoft’s Integration Broker and web servers · Professional experience implementing data warehousing solutions to support Business Intelligence reporting. · Certified Oracle Master or an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
