As the Senior Linux & Network System Administrator in the Technical Operations organization, you will be a senior member of a new special projects team. This team will focus on building and maintaining an enterprise level cloud computing infrastructure using LAMP based stack (or similar). The ideal candidate will have spent a significant time in a start-up environment designing, building and maintaining successful Cloud Computing infrastructure with focus on HA/RAS, automation, capacity, monitoring and security.
You are a seasoned, experienced, fully functioning member of this team. You understand and apply a wide variety of concepts, practices and procedures of service delivery engineering, and can resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
You are able to work independently and only require general guidance on new projects or unfamiliar areas. You are a self starter, able to make quick, effective decisions, think outside (and inside) the box. You take management requirements and are able to design a solution and implement a service that focuses on HA/RAS, automation, capacity, monitoring and security. You work on multiple projects of moderate complexity. You demonstrate good judgment and use your expertise in selecting methods and techniques for developing solutions. You will be asked to do more with less.
Working mostly in start-ups you have deep knowledge in the entire LAMP stack and also:
RHEL 5.x or CentOS
Web servers like nGnx, Apache, etc.
Tomcat application server,
Network security (eg. Firewalls, IDS, etc.)
Logical security (eg. PAM, VP, trusted/bastion, ssh, Kerberos, etc.),
Software Load Balancers like Zeus
Infrastructure monitoring solutions like Zabbix, WebMetrics, Nagios, Cricket, MRTG, etc.
Clustering/HA: Memcached, Repcached, Hibernate and Terracotta
Bare metal provisioning (eg. Kickstart)
Configuration management (eg. Puppet)
BS/BA degree, or equivalent work experience
3+ years in a start up environment
5 + years Unix, Linux Administration experience,
2+ years in a 24x7x365 service delivery environment
Experience in designing, deploying and maintaining monitoring and management frameworks (Nagios, HP OpenView, MRTG, etc.)
Experience building and configuring major Internet host/network services including but not limited to: Web (http, SSL, etc.), Mail (sendmail, etc.), DNS, NFS, NIS/NIS+, databases (MySQL, Oracle, etc.) and Java
Experience designing, deploying and maintaining bare metal provisioning such as kickstart
Experience designing, deploying and maintaining Puppet is a must
Perl and/or shell scripting
Firewall/security experience - access control list management, secure remote access management practices, IDS, etc. - considered a plus
Strong communication skills
Solid networking experience - TCP/IP, administration of networking hardware (Cisco, Foundry, etc.), load balancing - considered a plus
Hardware training and/or certification in systems and storage management (Red Hat Linux, Sun Microsystems, Hitachi Storage Solutions, EMC, Dell, Solaris, etc.) desired but not required.
