Job Title: Senior Database Administrator
Job Type: Contract 10-12 months + poss. Extensions
Location: Northern Canada
Rate: Exceptional rates based on experience

Responsibilities:
Install, administer, maintain, and monitor SQL, Oracle and proprietary databases in the production network environment.
Install, administer, maintain and monitor applications and programs installed on databases in the production network environment.
Install and test upgrades to applications, programs and databases including service packs, patches, hot fixes and releases in a UAT/Test environment.
Provide mentoring and Tier 3 support to Tier 1-2 technicians, Regional Technicians and a variety of end user departments specifically in support of these production applications and programs.
Provide communities with phone or remote support using administration tools provided by the client.
Communicate with third party vendors and developers of applications, programs and databases used by the client.
Create technical documentations and edit and test vendor provided documentation.
Provide expertise on identified internal IPS projects and other informatics projects relating to the client's IT infrastructure.
Contribute to the post mortem analysis following any assigned project completion.
Troubleshoot user connection issues, monitor disk space, monitor server and database performance, backup and restore schedules, create accounts related to databases and applications.
Provide recommendations to improve and enhance the Network environment both technically and procedurally.

Conditions:
It will be a requirement that we provide a satisfactory criminal reports check of the Consultant prior to commencement of work. In the event a criminal record exists, the Client will have sole discretion in denying or accepting the Consultant to the position.

Rates and Expenses:
You will be reimbursed for the actual cost of one return airline ticket to our Client's location per the specific call up. As part of this return flight cost reimbursement, this is a one-time benefit and will not apply to renewals or extensions of contracts.

Rates will be broken down as follows:
$Daily Rate (7.5 hrs/day) + $Accommodation Cost + $Living Expenses/Day
SWGi is currently researching the Accommodation Cost and the Average Daily Living Expenses. This information will be provided to you prior to our submission as we are committing to ensuring there are no misunderstandings surrounding rate.

Position Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science or IT related diploma/degree.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in the below mentioned responsibilities.
Related Industry Certifications, for example, Microsoft, Oracle, Sybase, ITIL or other database certifications.
Proven ability to administer, manage and maintain a variety of SQL, Oracle and proprietary Databases and Applications.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as work on individual tasks.
Excellent writing and documentation skills.
High level of organizational skills.
Trustworthiness, and professional integrity.
Can be relied upon to remain on assignment(s) until completion.
