  • Follows Standard Precautions and OSHA Guidelines.
  • Assists with orienting patients and family members to the unit/department/room.
  • Participates in and receives report at the start of care.
  • Plans and organizes work assignment; prioritizes needs of the patients.
  • Supports nursing staff in a calm, efficient manner during acute, emergency situations.
  • Bathes and provides perineal care for patients; dependent upon patient ability.
  • Provides assistance with Activities of Daily Living including but not limited to: brushing hair, oral care, shaving, etc.
  • Makes occupied and/or unoccupied beds.
  • Measures and reports vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.
  • Weighs patients.
  • Measures and records intake and output.
  • Documents all cares provided in the medical record.
  • Provides care that minimizes the risk of skin breakdown by being attentive to the patient's hygiene, proper positioning and injury prevention.
  • Observes and reports the presence of skin breakdown to nursing staff.
  • Properly and safely lifts, moves, transfers, and positions patients in bed, wheelchairs and/or gurneys/carts.
  • Provides range of motion exercises.
  • Safely feeds patients as ordered, following prescribed feeding protocols.
  • Provides adequate care to ill/injured patients under the direction of the nursing staff.
  • Accurately observes, recognizes changes and reports to nursing staff in a timely manner.
  • Communicates any changes from the patients baseline or "unusual" observations to the nurse in a timely manner.
  • Reports accidents, with or without injury, promptly.
  • Assists with post-mortem care as directed by nursing staff.
  • Accepts constructive criticism from immediate supervisors and take corrective action.
  • Demonstrates respectful relationships with supervisors, co-workers and interdepartmental staff.
  • Completes all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Keeps patient rooms and corridors free of clutter.
  • Uses equipment in a safe manner.
  • Answers telephone and processes orders as per Unit Checklist.
  • Performs Accu-Checks as directed; recording and reporting results to the nursing staff.
  • Completes Unit Specific competencies during orientation and annually.



BLS required

Current C.N.A., Medical Assistant, EMT or Paramedic certification/licensure required
