This position supports the VSE Corporation staff located at Yigo Guam. Yigo (Chamorro: Yigu; pronounced "DZI-gu") is the northernmost village of the United States territory of Guam, and is the location of Andersen Air Force Base. The municipality of Yigo is larger than any other village on the island in terms of area.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU), BEAR Water Sub-System, Latrine Assembly, 3K and 20K Water Bladder and 10K Fuel Bladder and other utilities support equipment. Install, inspect, repair, and manage plumbing, water distribution, wastewater collection systems and components. Comply with environmental and safety regulations. Remove and replace minor components and hardware of equipment. Perform minor corrosion control inspection, clean and treat corrosion on associated equipment. Inspect and replace gauges and meter. Perform other jobs as needed and directed by the maintenance manager. Perform asset deployment tasks to include packing, marking, weighing, labeling and documenting cargo for deployment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate and maintains ROWPU and Water Sub-System. Performs mechanical, electrical and instrumentation functions necessary to prepare and assemble water systems equipment for initial startup. Analyze equipment and system operating characteristics to determine operational conduction.
Test and troubleshoot and isolates malfunctions using diagnostic tests. Determines repair/overhaul required, cost effectiveness and method of accomplishment for utility water system and associated systems. Makes minor repairs, and adjustments of associated systems and equipment, determine faulty operation/maintenance practices.
Checks installed equipment to ensure compliance with publications, policies, and directives. Inspects, tests, and services component systems such as safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and accessory equipment.Inspect equipment for accurate assembly and installation and for defects such as leaks, loose lines, connections, fittings and associated hardware.
Complies with USAF Technical Orders, Manufactures manuals and local and Government environmental regulations and policies.
Set up and operates field potable water treatment systems to test equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, and tests.
Ensures gauges and instruments are calibrated on all installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledgeable in working and utilizing test instruments such as multi-meters, power tools, special tools, equipment, and common tools required to make repairs
Knowledge is mandatory of: nomenclature, types, sizes, and uses of plumbing materials such as pipes, valves, fittings, metals, caulking, packing, and gaskets; shop mathematics; reading and interpreting drawings and specifications; Contingency Water and Waste Water Operations; Maintenance of Water, and Waste Collection Systems.
Ability to plan and prioritize work, a team player who is highly organized and able to work in a team environment with customers and other personnel to complete assigned tasks.
Education and Experience:
The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent or be a recent graduate of military, commercial or vocational technical mechanical school. Background in DOD and USAF equipment desired. 3-5 years experience in performing directly related activities.
