(This is a grant-funded position, renewable pending funding). The Stream Institute is seeking a Research Technologist II to assist with stream restoration projects and watershed-scale sediment/water quality investigations. Responsibilities will include surveying at stream and wetland restoration sites; assisting with construction oversight; and assisting with monitoring activities, including equipment installation, data downloading, site maintenance, and preliminary data analysis.
Candidate should have a working knowledge of surveying procedures. Experience with AutoCAD and/or GIS is preferred. Experience working with hydrological data, water quality monitoring, aquatic biology, plant taxonomy, or soil testing will all be considered a plus. Candidate should be highly detail-oriented and able to generate data independently and have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Work may be strenuous at times: hiking long distances in rugged terrain, transporting field gear by backpack, kneeling or sitting for extended periods, and working in inclement weather. Some overnight travel will be required. Candidate should have Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license. Relevant surveying experience may be substituted for a PLS License.
