Description Description: The Unix IT Architect Expert will be responsible for documentation, deployment and troubleshooting of the complete IT Unix environment including, but not limited to: AIX, VIO, HMC, Tivoli Storage Manager, PowerVM, Automated Server Build using NIM, and IBM P-series hardware. Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server, Solaris, VMWare, Apache, Scripting (Perl, Python, Bash), Bladelogic experience preferred. The goal of this position is to deliver high quality solutions as part of a global projects team, working to agreed standards and delivering on time, in supporting data centers in US, UK, and Asia Pacific. Unix IT Architect Expert works under minimal supervision. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may supervise the activities of lower level personnel Responsibilities: · Perform hardware assembly, installation, configuration and network connection, and test of platform, operating system software and program products at vendor-supported levels. Hardware includes physical, blade, and virtual environments. · Identifies, develops and implements new and expanded support services or, performance/tuning recommendations and changes in the workload mix, to meet user business requirements and ensure availability of resources. · Works with users to understand their priorities and application requirements. Negotiates and documents action plans and schedules for systems implementation. · Reviews, maintains and tests upgrades to the configuration management vendor software. Performs software builds and promotion through the software development life cycle. · Performs repairs to computer hardware, software, and firmware, or makes changes to systems management software, to improve performance and eliminate problems. · Implements changes to the production environment as specified by user and/or management. Defines and adjusts downtime change management process. · Advises and mentors other internal staff and support teams. · There will be occasions when the candidate will be required to work unsocial hours. The candidate will also be part of an out of hours on-call rotation. · Assesses business problems, system requirements, and the external system design. Obtains development estimates. · Prepares systems design alternatives document, conducts formal reviews, and obtains project approval on the chosen design. · Stays abreast of current technology, new technological advances and company standards. · Create, review, and improve working practices and processes. · Creates and enforces standards for use, and looks to eliminate non-standard implementations where necessary · Works with vendors to improve relationships and allow us to better implement technology.

Qualifications Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) related field or equivalent work experience · 8-12 years of experience working in a systems administrator/engineer/architect function Knowledge/Skills: · Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience with ticket tracking software, specifically CA USD · Advanced skills with AIX operating system, Tivoli Storage Manager, and P-Series hardware · Experience with Suse and/or Redhat Linux preferred · Advanced troubleshooting skills · Experience supporting remote locations is critical · Advanced English verbal and written communication skills · Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations · Advanced organizational and project management skills · Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. · Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. · Ability to translate business needs into technical architecture requirements. · Advanced customer service skills · Advanced leadership skills · Ability to think creatively.
