Assists veterans and their dependents in securing benefits. Performs field office work and itinerant service for an assigned geographic area. Interviews veterans and their dependents to determine their eligibility for benefits under existing laws. May super vise clerical staff in field office.
Hiring Process: This job requires a written examination (W) . Exams are given in several locations and no appointment is necessary. We encourage you to apply online. If you apply online, you do not have to take a copy of the application to the test center. DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU CAN TEST WITHIN 30 DAYS. Positive identification is required. There is a 90 day re-test waiting period. Caution: Any time you re-take the same test your new score, whether higher or lower, will automatically replace any previous test scores.

Training: Graduation from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.

Substitution: Employment involving responsible public contact work in veterans' affairs, employment service, vocational guidance, claims investigation, and related fields OR active duty in the armed forces may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
Special Requirements: 1) Honorable discharge from one of the armed forces.
(May include regular active duty, Reserves or National Guard.)
2) Possession of a valid WV drivers' license and the availability of a car for continuous use.
3) Employed personnel must pass proficiency tests and maintain accreditation.
