Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support Services. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing student-athlete academic support which will include, but not limited to, major counseling/education, monitoring academic progress, providing tutorial resources, coordination and referral of department and campus resources, and communication with academic department and athletic department administration and staff; establishing and maintaining academic and university community networks; developing programs that support student-athletes outside of sport, which include personal development programming, basic life skills programming, career and/or professional school preparation and planning, coordination of community service outreach, and advising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee on pertinent issues. The Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support Services will serve on the senior level management team and will provide advice and counsel to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics on strategic and operational issues, as well as, assists with the overall leadership, direction, and management of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree, 5 years of experience working with student-athletes in an academic setting at the college/university level, extensive working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and regulations, university admission policies, academic transcript evaluations, 2 years of supervisory experience and flexibility to work nights and weekends are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
