Position Overview: The Area Director is primarily responsible for providing ongoing guidance, supervision, training and support to the regional office staff and/or field staff in Europe, Middle East and Africa. This position will ensure the smooth establishment and operations of the Best Buddies Regional office(s) in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Job Qualifications
• Master’s degree in International Affairs, Business, Social Service or other relevant field
• Experience living abroad and/or working in the non-profit or private sector in Europe, Middle East and/or Africa
• Fluent in English and one other regional language, written and oral
• Excellent communication skills, highly dependable, with strong organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and general internet research
• Must be an independent, self-starter and team player with sincere interest in the Best Buddies mission as well as maintaining a broad perspective relative to varying cultures and different nationalities
• Experience with project management - including planning, analysis, decision making, and problem solving - and willingness to multitask
• Experience in multi-faceted fundraising through foundations, corporations, private and government.
• Advanced presentation skills
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and may be required to travel in region in order to accomplish job responsibilities

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Together with Vice President and regional field staff, create effective and strong organizational vision plan, business plan, other action plans such as fundraising plan (sponsoring, government grants, foundations, donors, direct mailing, etc), communication/PR plan, HR plan, etc for the regional office and field offices promoting the mission of Best Buddies.
• Install performance measurements to ensure successful implementation of plan.
• Maintain current records of country programs, chapters and volunteers in region(s).
• Manage marketing and media support for region(s) and when necessary, for country offices.
• Collaborate with Vice President and field team to create quarterly board of director reports, e-newsletters, website articles, and event program books.
• Assist International Programs team and/or regional office with planning, logistics and presentation of topics during annual staff trainings, regional trainings and Leadership Conference.
• Organize and conduct online and in-person training opportunities for staff and volunteers in the region(s).
• Research potential contacts/grants/funding sources that would support regional, country and department expansion.
• Perform administrative duties as they relate to the International Programs department.
• Provide support to Vice President, International Development
• Work with BBI on fund raising events and special projects, as directed.
