Position Summary

Performs Sleep Disorders procedures ensuring quality and clarity of recording along with detailed documentation. Communicates pertinent information to Sleep Lab Supervisor and/or physician as needed.

Position Duties


Patient Care Process & Clinical Responsibilities

Consistently provides safe & effective patient care that addresses the age-specific variations related to clinical, educational, psychosocial and cultural needs per ACH policy and procedure.
Demonstrates critical thinking through individualizing and prioritizing care (Assessment, Problem Identification and Desired Outcomes, Planning, Implementation, & Evaluation) and communicates with appropriate Team ACH Members to ensure this care.
Models effective communication and collaboration with other Team ACH Members and is instrumental in implementing change.
Provides ordered patient plan of care and assesses appropriateness of the plan of care.
Recognizes emergency situations and intervenes appropriately until arrival of Code Team.
Demonstrates and promotes a positive commitment to customer needs, expectations, satisfaction, and diversity, and supports the ACH philosophy of Family-Centered Care.
Performs other related duties as assigned.


Professional Development

Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency & continuing education in sleep.
Recognizes current level of knowledge and is self-directed in seeking resources/learning activities in relation to professional practice standards & enhancing competency.
Contributes to environment conducive to education of patients & families & education of healthcare professionals and students.
Completes and assists with appropriate educational activities to maintain and increase competency, including all required hospital and departmental inservices and training.
Recognizes educational opportunities and communicates suggestions to appropriate Team ACH Member for improvement of self and others. Provides inservices and training as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education Requirements

Certificate from college program or technical school
  • Field of Study: Graduate and successful completion of a CAAHEP or COARC approved sleep technologist program.

Experience Requirements

2 years pediatric sleep laboratory performing and scoring polysomnograms and multiple sleep latency tests experience


Certification/License/Registry Requirements

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)

  • Candidate must possess at time of hire
