GENERAL SUMMARY:
This individual will be cross trained in order to complete tasks and fill in for the cashier, dish room, and food expeditor positions. This includes the responsibilities defined in the Essential Job Functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Food Expeditor:
Assembles and delivers patient meals.

Monitors and maintains adequate food supplies in nourishment centers.

Prepares patient snacks and tube feedings.

Dish Room:
Cleans and sanitizes dishes, flatware, pots & pans and other miscellaneous equipment used to in kitchen.

Maintains clean and sanitary working environment.

Operates conveyor dish machine and power scrub sink.

Cashier:
Cleans and stocks cafeteria and vending area.

Handles vending problems & refunds.

Develops & maintain excellent customer service relationships.

General maintenance of cafeteria equipment.

Secures cash & cash register throughout shift and completes end of day cash reports.

Maintains a clean and sanitary environment by:
Sweeping, mopping, & vacuuming floors;

Moving & lifting equipment, chairs, & tables;

Climbing ladders to dust vents, pictures, lighting fixtures, tops of equipment, and other equipment at ceiling height;

Sanitizes tables, counter tops, tray slide, merchandisers, salad & deli bar components, and other equipment;

Cleans windows & glass doors;

Dust window & wood ledges.

Empties trash and cardboard boxes and takes to compactor outside of hospital. Washes out garbage cans.

Maintains inventory and chemicals within OSHA guidelines used in the kitchen and cafeteria.

Monitors critical temperatures on kitchen equipment.

Regularly attends and participates in staff meetings for problem solving and goal setting.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices in a foodservice environment.

Operation of conveyor type dish machine and cash register.

Simple math and ability to count change.

Ability to handle customer conflict & develop excellent customer relationships.

Attention to detail and pride in providing quick, accurate service to patients.

Knowledge of food presentation and food safety procedures.

Knowledge of patient safety procedures, common safety hazards and precautions.

Ability to speak, read, understand and follow oral and written instruction in English.

Ability to communicate with patients, families and team members in a manner which promotes dignity and respect.

Ability to perform computer tasks at a user level.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year food service experience preferred. Must obtain a Level II Food Handler’s Permit within 30 days of employment.

Work requires:
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting cartons and trays.

Manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

Lifting and carrying items of up to 34 pounds.

Stamina to deal with stress related responsibilities and handle multiple tasks.

Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regular kitchen/cafeteria environment. Exposed to extreme heat and cold, high noise levels, and chemicals that may be hazardous. Regular hospital environment.
