Individuals employed in this position will be required to install, maintain and implement company-wide computer network systems and related equipment; and perform a variety of related work, as required.Employees should be able to independently perform the full range of duties outlined below as a member of the Systems Group in the Infrastructure & Operations Department, including analyzing, installing, and troubleshooting the more complex network systems and problems.
Three or more years of increasingly responsible experience supporting or maintaining wide and/or local area network systems, including hardware, network operating system software and user application software.
- Concepts and administration of computer and network operating systems and applications.
Operational characteristics of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and associated hardware components, as well as Networking and routing protocols.
Principles, practices, and techniques in the installation and maintenance of network hardware and software in a large integrated, heterogeneous network environment.
Techniques and principles for the packaging and deployment of applications through an automated procedure.
Operations, capabilities, and limitations of network servers, computers, switches, and routers.
Principles and practices of project management.
Disk management andback-up and recovery procedures.
Principles and practices of network management, capacity planning, administration, and troubleshooting.
System inventory and administration systems like Microsoft SMS, SCCM or Altiris.
Principles and practices of computer and application patch management and deployment through both manual and automated procedures.
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain network servers, operating systems, and other network equipment as well as recommend and implement logical solutions to networks, systems and applications.
Read, interpret, and comprehend technical written materials and learn new programs with limited training and time.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and prepare clear and concise reports.
Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team and company goals, objectives and activities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including Department officials and the general public.
Demonstrate initiative, motivation, dependability and professionalism.
Coach and train Support Engineer I as well as other Information Technologies staff. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: - Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time - Operating assigned equipment.

Maintaining servers in a Storage Area Network Environment
Operating network equipment including load balancing devices, routers and switches.
Operating specialized diagnostic tools and equipment, such as network analyzers.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, information technology, business administration or closely related field or equivalent training, education and/or experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Employees at this level should have completed, at a minimum, Network + or CISSP certification and be expected to complete within three years either the Microsoft MCITP: Server Administrator on Windows Server 2008 or Red Hat Certified System Administrator.
Any of the following certifications are desirable:
Those certifications obtained through the Microsoft Certified IT Professional Program, Red Hat Certification program, Cisco Internetworking Certification Program, Citrix Certified Administration or American Management Association, or any other approved information technology certification.
