Performs invasive and non-invasive procedures for the procurement of blood and body fluids for laboratory testing.
Under general supervision, the employee will be responsible for implementing established standard operating procedures to perform quality venipuncture; capillary sticks, bleeding time tests, skin tests, Glucose Tolerance tests and urine collections. Assists the health care team in accurate, safe, and reliable collection and transportation of specimens for laboratory analysis. Uses computer data entry skills to ensure accurate and quality reporting of patient results.
Applicant must have recent phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility. This would include drawing neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. This position requires drawing radial and brachial arterial specimens as well as blood cultures, skin tests, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Applicant must have strong computer skills and be familiar with mobile handheld patient identification and collection devices. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a high stress environment.
Experience: Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
Education: High School diploma or its equivalent.
Arterial Blood Gas certification required within six months of hire date and annually thereafter.
This position requires that you drive a facility owned vehicle or your own vehicle. A current state of Idaho driver’s license is required. If relocating to Idaho from another state, you must obtain a current Idaho driver’s license within 90 days of making Idaho your permanent state of residence. If you are not a permanent resident of Idaho you must have a valid driver’s license from the state in which you permanently reside. In addition, if you will be driving your own vehicle 2 or more times per week for company related business, documentation of proof of liability insurance must be provided. Liability insurance must have a combined single limit of at least $300,000 or have $100,000/$300,000 coverage split. This position is subject, upon hire and annually, to an MVR report/analysis and driver safety education.
