Do you love books and music? Radio Silence, a magazine of literature and rock & roll, is hiring an intern.

We're a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in San Francisco's Mission District. We publish a print magazine, and we will soon launch a live-event series featuring musicians and writers. Our first issue was released last May to rave reviews. (San Francisco Magazine named it "Best of 2012.") Issue 02 will appear this spring.

Your starting position would focus on our website and social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter.) We need someone with terrific writing and editing skills, someone with appropriate experience who can help develop and expand our social media efforts and reach. This work will be the primary focus of the position, although there will also be opportunities to get involved with our print magazine and live events.

In a brief cover letter, tell us why this internship appeals to you and why you're right for the job. Describe your availability. Tell us about your reading and listening, including your 5 favorite books and 5 favorite bands/albums. Attach a resume and a short writing sample. And if you really want to impress us, spend some time on our website and social media, read the samples from the magazine, and tell us what you like. If you have an idea for how our social media could be improved, include it.

This is a part-time position, typically a couple hours per day, five days per week, but the demands and hours fluctuate with our publishing cycle. It is unpaid. We are not looking to publish your work in the magazine, although the daily news and birthdays on our website offer a chance to write and create content for a large audience. [] And of course this could lead to a more secure position with us down the line.

We look forward to hearing from you.
