These seasonal positions will be open until filled with review of applications starting March 15, 2013, with applications reviewed every two weeks until May 24, 2013. Applicants for these positions must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire and have a valid drivers’ license. All persons performing firefighting duties are required to pass a physical fitness test within three weeks of employment. DNRC HAS ADOPTED THE PACK TEST AS THE REQUIRED PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST. APPROXIMATE DATES AND HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR TEMPORARY SEASONAL POSITIONS will depend on each position and will vary between June and September 2013. Positions will be terminated at the end of the normal work season or as notified by the Department.

Duties:
Dispatches resources for initial attack and support of wildland and wildland urban interface fires during complex and multiple incidents, mobilizes fire fighting forces in order to provide initial attack suppression actions for fires; receives reports of fires from lookouts, aircraft, the public and local, state and federal agencies; evaluates and analyzes fire information and determines the appropriate initial action based on the fire danger, resources at risk, availability of fire resources and dispatch action guides; receives requests for fire resources from the Incident Commander for suppression forces, logistical support, intelligence information; evaluates requests and suggests alternatives to minimize costs and deliver resources cost effectively.

Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
