This position works closely with creative apparel designers to develop technical production designs for men's and women's cycling and sports culture apparel. Takes into consideration materials, fit, function, cost, product schedules, and manufacturability. Also works to source materials necessary to produce top quality apparel.
Takes 2D designs from creative designers and develops spec packs for manufacturing vendors.
Conducts fit and construction evaluations.
Ensures proper design transfer to vendors and monitors production timelines, communicating appropriately with suppliers on any issues that may arise.
Performs sourcing of fabrics, materials, trims, and bindings. Evaluates and monitors supplier quality.
Collaborates with creative designers, project managers, product managers and suppliers throughout development process.
Produces high quality design illustrations for review, planning and catalog presentation.
Educational or vocational training in Apparel Design or related program.
5+ years experience in apparel technical design/development.
Prior experience sourcing fabric and materials.
Must be able to determine and execute proper apparel fit.
Must have good organizational skills and be highly attentive to detail.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be customer service oriented.
Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
Must be proficient in Windows based computer applications such as MS Excel, Outlook.
Experience in cycling, outdoor or action sports apparel development strongly preferred.
Creative 2D design skills helpful.
