Job Title: Junior Proposal Specialist (also known as Buyer I)
Process : Inquiry to Order & Order to Billing & Billing to Shipping
Reports To: Senior Proposal Specialist
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: Responsible for sourcing, purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.

Compensation:
35 k to 45 k annual gross wages commensurate with experience
Healthcare, Disability, Time off available

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with v endors both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and math skills are required to prepare bids.

Education/Experience:
  • A minimum of 1 + years of experience in a Buyer role or closely related Purchasing activity
  • Strong customer service, written and oral communication in English language
  • Advanced Microsoft office capabilities (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing fundamentals including solicitation of bids and negotiation
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration
  • Ability to assess priorities, demonstrate flexibility and understand sense of urgency
  • Self-motivated , demonstrate problem solving abilities, continuous improvement and decision making
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Purchase parts and services at best savings and value for the company and affiliates.
  • Maintains the integrity of purchasing data on the computer based planning system with
error free transactions .
  • Coordinates with suppliers to meet customer requirements and ensures these requirements are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Participates in an effective cost improvement and savings program for purchased materials and services.
  • Carryout ISO-9001 purchasing procedures.
  • Act as a backup to other buyers that are out of the office.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving sev e ral concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
