The Sales Strategy & Transformation team in the Americas helps define the overall go-to-market strategy and operating plan for all sales and field marketing activities in the Western Hemisphere. Role description:
The Sales Strategy Associate role is a high impact role in the Americas region. You will lead rapid-cycle research and problem solving for a range of strategic projects that will require direct interactions with field sales representatives and executives in our region. You will help prepare and present strategy recommendations to our field leadership and executive team. You will also be part of a team in charge of the analytics for market sizing, coverage model optimization, and sales productivity that are critical to aligning our sales execution with our sales strategy.

You will report into the Senior Director of Sales Strategy & Transformation for the Americas. You will also interact frequently with the General Manager and Senior Vice President of the Americas. The expectation is that you will build skills over time and take advantage of our coaching to develop into a well-rounded business leader who can move into future leadership roles within VMware.

Objectives:
Collect data and conduct fact-based analysis that helps enable decision making on key strategic and operational questions

  • Act as a thought leader in developing hypotheses on opportunities to improve our sales performance and our overall strategy for the region
  • Develop relationships with members of sales operations, sales finance, and the sales and marketing field
  • Articulate strategic recommendations clearly in oral and written form to our leadership
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a high-performing team to share ideas, get feedback on hypotheses, and help all members of the team be successful professionally
  • Draft and execute against clear project plans with well-defined milestones and business impact objectives
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree, ideal major such as business, finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics
  • 3-5 years work experience at a leading technology company or business consulting firm
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Passion for problem solving and analytics
  • Comfort with collaboration and interaction with colleagues to obtain advice and jointly solve problems
  • Ability to own a project from end-to-end, including defining a project plan with clear milestones and business objectives, as well as communicating progress on a routine basis to the Senior Director
