Assist the IT Information Security Office in its daily operations. Manage trouble/help tickets. Assist Security Engineers with projects and serve as "backup" for Security devices/systems as assigned. Provide on-site/remote troubleshooting services for University-owned systems. Assist clients on securing workstations, laptops, servers, PDAs, and other Information Technology devices. Assume other duties as assigned

Field of Study:


High School/GED

1 year of computer related experience or approximately 24 credit hours (1 year) of full-time university or technical training in computer related field.

Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communications skills. Must be a self starter, show a willingness to learn new skills, and be able to work in a demanding, high speed environment while maintaining an upbeat attitude. Ability to lift 25 lbs.


Field of Study:
Computer/Information Technology related degree.


Strongly prefer knowledge of Network and Systems Administration (TCP/IP, Switch/Hub functions; Network Topologies; Active Directory structure; functionality) and a strong working knowledge of Windows Server family and Windows 2000/XP/Vista Desktop OS. MS Exchange 2003/2007, SharePoint, Backup Exec, Microsoft NAV, firewall configuration, and SNA knowledge highly desired. Experience in a coding language is a plus. Experiene with security device\systems, such as, SNORT, QRadar, TippingPoint, VPN, etc.

Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); CompTIA Security+ certification.

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge
Experience and skills in the areas of network and computer security. Possess and understanding of TCP/IP. Experience installing operating systems and applications/programs and their related security updates and patches. Experience working with at least one of the following Linux distributions is a plus: CentOS, SuSE, or Fedora Core.
