We are students at the American Film Institute Conservatory looking for an experienced and hard working Construction Coordinator to help achieve an ambitious and tightly scheduled set construction. The story is a 1930s suspense drama which takes place on a train escaping Stalinist Russia. We are designing, building and decorating an ornate and period faithful European rail car on a sound stage.
The job would entail:
Working with our production designer in overseeing and managing a construction team, constructing, altering and assembling flats, laying carpet, fabricating doors and windows, staining and painting the set, installing trim and finishing details.
- 1+ year of set construction experience
- Attention to safety and detail
- Meticulous, thorough and efficient
- A good team leader
- Ability to organize a crew, while designating and overseeing construction tasks
- Excellent attitude, work ethic and accountability
- A car (preferably a truck)
Starts Monday, April 22. Must be available for most or all of our build and strike dates: April 24 to May 3. Strike date: May 7.
While our budget does not allow for compensation, we will provide meals, screen credit and the opportunity to hone your craft while and gain valuable experience, while making connections with students from one of the world’s top film schools.
