The Category Manager is responsible for the for the strategic marketing for the poultry market in the global Cargill Animal Nutrition (CAN) business which operates across 36 countries, serving customers in more than 100 countries.
This global role reports to the Poultry marketing director and is responsible for analyzing and developing marketing plans, leading key projects and providing new ideas, concepts and approaches to help our commercial and retail sales teams meet the needs of our customers in both premix and complete feed businesses. The market opportunities, buying process, and type of target customers are diverse between the feed and premix business. The Category Manager provides the marketing expertise for poultry to ensure the success of the business strategy for Cargill Animal Nutrition.
Analysis, Planning and Strategy
: As the strategic marketing poultry expert for animal nutrition, provide the global marketing organization with key data relating to the customer, competition and markets as well as recommendations for action. This position will play a key role in defining/updating the strategic initiatives for the global, regional and/or BU strategy. This role will focus mainly on the How to Win part for the species, which includes the offering as well as a full description of the 7Ps: People, Positioning, Product/Service, Place, Packaging, Price, and Promotion.
This position will monitor the competitive landscape, industry trends and external forces that influence the animal nutrition industry.
By identifying customer questions, providing innovative ideas, and monitoring industry trends, the Category Manager will provide the business with information on where to focus their efforts to realize the long-term success of the Premix and Complete feed businesses across all countries in which we do business.
Influencing and Measuring
: This position will lead marketing projects that translate strategy into actions by helping develop capabilities that are critical for long-term business success. These projects may include delivering on requirements, creating new offerings, and coordinating teams (e.g. Technology, R&D, Marketing, RMS) to develop products identified in the strategy. Leading a project may also include finding the right supplier/external resource to partner with. The projects will require an assessment of business effectiveness by using organizational and analytical skills to establish success criteria, metrics and tracking systems. In addition, they will need to influence managing directors and group directors in multiple countries to implement projects locally and tie the financial results to the project. Help show the Managing director how the project will improve their financial results and retain customers.
: Collaborate with other marketing leaders, both in Animal Nutrition at the local business level with strategic marketing leaders and marketing managers and across Cargill. This requires target market insight, building relationships, influencing, establishing a proven track record in serving the business, drafting best practices, introducing new approaches, and providing the ‘voice of the customer.’

Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural or business related discipline
Minimum 10+ years of business experience, which includes at least 3 years of strategic marketing
Ability to travel up to 25% to international locations where animal nutrition conducts business
Excellent strategic marketing, decision-making and project management skills
Understands how to develop and bring creative innovation to market
Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience in go-to-market, including leading projects, managing resources, preparing introductions, and measuring results

Post graduate degree in business management
Experience in animal nutrition business or knowledge in animal nutrition with experience in poultry
