Performs various duties in connection with the maintenance of electronic circuitry and components on a variety of production and material handling equipment, and performs electrical maintenance work making all major lighting and power installations and repairs, and replacement or adjustment of electrical equipment. Is responsible for the work of other personnel when assigned, and may be required to direct, assist, instruct or train others. Observes action of suspected faulty or inoperative equipment and proceeds with trouble shooting procedure to diagnose and isolate malfunction(s) by observing action of equipment, actuating electrical, mechanical or fluid devices, numerical readout, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Traces circuits using test equipment such as V.O.M.(s) and oscilloscope. May require use of computer or other evaluation or programming devices to trouble shoot, modify or facilitate repairs.Trouble shooting procedure involves knowledge of functions of circuits and components, and knowledge and use of trade tools and test equipment. May be required to diagnose minor mechanical problems, to disassemble and determine repairs. To remedy malfunctions, may replace solid state circuit boards, SCR units, diodes, integrated circuits, sensors, buffers, etc. May perform repair work on defective solid state circuit boards by diagnosing, isolating and replacing individual cpmponents and /or bridging open circuit by wiring or soldering. Follows layout drawings, verbal instructions, sketches, and wiring diagrams. May plan best method and material necessary to install or relocate and connect lighting, control circuits, or power supply to production equipment; selects electrical fittings, cable or wire, conduit, etc.; threads, bends and assembles conduit to outlet boxes; pulls wire through conduit or cable raceways and connects to proper branch circuit and machine. Maintains a wide variety of equipment such as motors, generators, electronic and electrical amplification devices, switches, fused panels, batteries, switchboards, timers, temperature controlling recorders, clocks, etc.; lubricates motor bearings, cleans or replaces contacts, checks power consumption with meters, etc.; adjusts relays or circuit breakers for proper timing or setting, and replaces or repairs worn or defective parts performing all related work necessary to facilitate repairs depending upon operating conditions and type of equipment. Makes schematic diagrams of equipment and machine control circuits, and circuits for installation of equipment and/or reference, as required. In conducting repairs, may be rquired to improve on present design and to perform experimental work on standard or special purpose equipment and circuitry; to design, develop, and implement various circuits and programs to improve or correct machine operations using programmable devices and equipment such as plc,s, logic devices, controllers,etc. Notifies supervisor of quantity, part number, and description of purchased items needed, fills out issues for supervisor signature for stores items needed. Maintain inventory of repair components. Performs work as assigned, completes work orders, paperwork, and other methods of communications as required. Evaluates and performs preventive maintenance functions.

In order to better carry out the above assignments, may be required to perform simple riggings; to remove and replace any motors except those requiring special rigging; to remove and replace guards, chains, belts, couplings, sprockets and pulleys; to make frames, mounting panels and surfaces, brackets and hangers required for electrical equipment as prescribed by supervisor; to mount enclosures, electrical devices and ancillary equipment, and to operate various generators.
Operates fork lift trucks as required, add oils to all machines and equipment, production and maintenance, when necessary. Responsible for conformance with safety regulations and for good housekeeping practices in the maintenance work areas and job sites.
Requires the ability to read and interpret technical information and schematic drawings pertaining to electronic circuitry and components and make drawings and/or schematic drawings.
Requires sufficient job experience to perform highly diversified/highly skilled work of installing, repairing and maintaining electrical and electronic circuitry and components involving diagnosing, isolating and correcting malfunctions, using test equipment, replacing solid state boards, SCR units, transistors, integrated circuits, etc.; install or relocate control circuits, power supplies to production equipment, etc.; maintain motors, generators, batteries, adjust relays and circuit breakers, and operate fork lift truck.
