Postdoctoral Associate Position
Accomplished PhD graduates seeking postdoctoral asociate training in programmed cell death are invited to apply to the Katz Laboratory in the Department of Pathology at Yale University. Successful candidates will work with BCL -2 family proteins, which play essential roles in many cellular functions including apoptosis. Disruption of apoptosis results in both diseases of cellular excess such as cancer and diseases of cellular loss such as neurodegeneration. A detailed understanding of how BCL -2 family members regulate apoptosis will ultimately allow the design novel therapies for a multitude of diseases. Recent work has focused on mechanisms by which loss of pro-apoptotic BCL -2 family members contribute to lymphomagenesis.
Successful candidates will be trained to develop an independent research career under the mentorship of Dr. Katz. This is an exciting opportunity to study mouse models of severe apoptotic resistance using state-of-art techniques in molecular, cellular and chemical biology. Motivated candidates with strong written and verbal skills and expertise in immunology, primary human lymphoid cell isolation and culture, or performing large scale screens with subsequent computational analysis preferred.
