Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of open source technology. We make great technology that delivers long term freedom, flexibility, choice, and superior performance on day one. But, we can’t do all of this without the all-important people working behind the scenes. That’s where you can help.

The OpenShift team is looking for a seasoned engineer that wants to help make OpenShift and OpenStack work together in an on-premise offering. Being part of the OpenShift team is about passion for technology and development, balanced with the responsibility of running a hosted service and supporting a product. We are building a team and a service that will change how development is done, leveraging the strength of Red Hat technologies and services as well as exciting new open source projects like OpenStack.

A resume is always good, but it doesn't tell us everything, so we'd really like to see what sets you apart from the crowd. We’re more interested in GitHub contributions, contributions to the open source community around OpenStack, or work that makes you the perfect fit at Red Hat. We are dedicated to building the best team in the world and that means finding the right talent, wherever it might be. We are willing to consider any location and being part of Red Hat, we know how to make a distributed team successful.

Primary job responsibilities

To be successful on the OpenShift team, you need to be excited to work in a fast paced and sometimes chaotic environment with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release. We love what we do and we work hard to be the best- it's not the typical 9 to 5 position. You would need to know all things OpenStack as well as all things OpenShift and make the on-premise experience on OpenShift world class.

Required skills

Here are some technologies that you would be working with on a day to day basis. You might not know everything on the list on day 1, but if you are the type of person that will know everything by day 10, we'll get along just fine:
* Our end users (IRC, forums, email)
* Upstream distributions (Fedora, Ubuntu, etc)
* Packaging - you really need to understand RPM well or willing to learn it very fast
* OpenStack - Nova, Swift, Horizon, KeyStone, etc
* DNS, Storage, Networking
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora, working with technologies such a cgroups and SELinux
* Upstream communities
* Ruby and Bash scripting
