Assists the Assistant Forest Director in managing timber, wildlife and working with the public at the Sand Hills State Forest. Assists with marking and marketing of timber; inspects completed work. Assists with forest management activities to include prescribed burning, wildfire suppression, wildlife and recreation management, and general maintenance.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma and two years experience in forest fire control, law enforcement, forestry management or nursery operations. An associate degree in forestry or natural resources may be substituted for the required work experience. Must pass the physicial fitness test that requires a two (2) mile walk in 30 minutes carrying a 25 lb. pack.
Work is outside/inside exposed to extreme heat, cold and other weather conditions.
