It is the 7th most visited newspaper site in the United States, and has won innumerable awards since its inception in 1995, including Online Journalism Awards, EPpys, and even New England Emmys for video production.

The mission of Boston.com’s collection of Your Town community sites is to provide residents of those towns with a collection of news, information, events, discussion forums, and other content from a variety of sources to help them easily find everything they need to know about their community. The primary responsibility of this new Your Town student- position will be to increase the profile and the use of the Your Town sites. On a typical week, he/she would attend a face-to-face meeting at a local Rotary club one morning, hand out Your Town promotional items in another town that afternoon, do some social medial-promotion via Facebook or Twitter the next day, and recruit parent photographers at a Little League game in another community the next.

The student should be a self starter who can identify marketing opportunities ahead of time and plot them on the calendar, and help us devise strategies to promote our sites at those events or via those opportunities.

The student should have his or her own car and be familiar enough with the greater Boston area to get around efficiently. Only students will be considered. The pay is $12/hour, up to 40 hours/week. We are flexible and can adjust the schedule throughout the school year. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
