Responsible for planning and implementing the Performance Improvement program to meet the needs of the hospital and overseeing PI activities throughout the facility. Provides education to medical staff, hospital staff and Governing Body relative to regulatory requirements and risk management activities. Acts as resource person to administrative team, department managers and medical staff. Oversees clinical risk management functions. Oversight responsibility for all regulatory body surveys, i.e., The Joint Commission, TOSHA, State Licensing Review, CMS Conditions of Participation and validation surveys. Oversight responsibility for Infection Control and Employee Health activities for the facility. Serves as the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) contact for the Center for Healthcare Quality (Qsource). Under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, supervises the following activities of the Nursing Service Department: human resource management, patient care management, education, development and fiscal management including the appropriate allocation of human and material resources for the delivery of patient care-related activities. Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in educational programs specific to the clinical units. Makes decisions based of Hospital Administrative Policies, Personnel Policies, and Patient Care Policies. Refers significant information to the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Executive Officer as appropriate. Assumes the responsibility for maintaining the efficient functioning of the department on a 24-hour basis. Has the responsibility for initiating, guiding, directing and coordinating unit activities. Responsible for the evaluation of reporting personnel. Is responsible for the overall quality of patient care on the unit (s). Responsible for PI activities and for the development and implementation of Patient Care Standards for the department. Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Tennessee.

CPHQ certification required and prefer Certification for Infection Control Practitioner.

Prior supervisory experience preferred.
