Position Scope: The Controller is responsible for the management of the company’s accounting and finance practices, policies, processes, controls and financial systems. This role requires efficiency and effectiveness of accounting functions, timeliness and accuracy of the general ledger and accounting records, as well as ensuring compliance with internal controls. The Controller c oordinates all accounting and financial activities and provide oversight as related to the financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities: · Oversee the General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions including A/R and A/P
  • Conduct monthly internal audits related to accounting entries and GL postings
  • Oversee the cash management function including the production of a monthly and long range cash flow forecast
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of Sales and Use Tax reporting
  • Process company payroll to include processing of payroll taxes and withholding payments
  • Prepare and present monthly managerial reports and financial statements to peers and senior management
  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of budgets and financial reports necessary to control and assess the ongoing performance of the company
  • Establish and monitor standard system controls and budgets, reporting all significant variances and instituting appropriate actions
  • Implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded and all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies and US GAAP
  • Manage the coverage of the receptionist position including the answering of the main Optus phone lines
  • Supervise the members of the accounting team
Manage expenditures for compliance with the budget
The following criteria will be utilized in addition to the above responsibilities to measure the success of the position:

Take ownership of the accuracy of all accounting activities Take ownership of strategies related to financial management and ensure the proper execution Provide coaching to all team members in order to meet department goals and allow them to reach their maximum potential Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise Conduct regular one-on-one employee meetings as well as monthly staff meetings Oversee the continuous improvement and automation of accounting and financial processes Models appropriate behavior in regards to Optus’ Core Values and Code of Ethics policies and supports Optus’ team approach to quality to driving Optus forward.


Direct supervision over --- Accounting team

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance with 7 to 10 years of experience; Advanced Degree is desirable
  • Must have experience with transactional accounting activities such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll and Account Reconciliations
  • Must be experienced in the preparation and management of budgets
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize tasks while providing a high-level of accuracy
  • A demonstrated ability to analyze problems, develop/recommend options and resolve issues while performing all duties in a confidential and professional manner
  • A leader with outstanding people and communication skills who finds value in promoting teamwork and job ownership
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains a plus
Ability to read, write, and communicate both orally and written to external and internal customers and employees. Normal vision and normal hearing with or without correction. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs., periodically, throughout workday. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, sit in one place, squat and kneel continuously throughout day. Ability to reach, bend, and twist continuously throughout day. Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions. Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing, as well as repetitive hand and wrist motions. Ability to work together effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
