The Instructional Media Specialist is responsible for performing various skilled duties to support the Center for Learning Technology ( CLT ) in the creation and maintenance of college-wide online course offerings. Instructional Media Specialists support Instructional and Web Designers to ensure quality and compliance in the online offerings, provide technical support, as well as support related departmental activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with Instructional Designers, and other staff to update elements of online courses including:

    • learning modules
    • assessments and assignments
    • direct file management
  • Convert files to appropriate distribution formats suitable for web
  • Create accessible media – Jaws and other assistive technologies
  • Assist in confirming compliance with relevant college, state and federal regulations such as, policy, ADA and copyright
  • Prepare and maintain various instructional media, and other materials used for online and hybrid course development
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving in the Learning Management System using HTML and other code related to the use of the web
  • Technical problem solving and testing in the online environment
  • Other related duties as assigned
      Job Requirements
      • Associate's degree in instructional design, computer software applications, electronics, or a related field
      • Two years online production and editing experience
      • Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education regarded as establishing the equivalency
      The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
      • Knowledge of and proficiency in a variety of web design and instructional software such as:

        • Learning Management Systems, the college currently uses Desire2Learn
        • Adobe Creative Suite including Dreamweaver
        • Microsoft Office Suite
        • HTML , XHTML , and CSS
      • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant state and federal regulations such as ADA and copyright
      • Edit course elements and assure compliance with quality standards
      • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with departmental team, supervisor, other college employees, and the general public, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
