Job Purpose: The Senior Biomedical Technician repairs, maintains, tests, and calibrates highly advanced biomedical equipment/systems to ensure their safe and proper operation. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities according to departmental guidelines, manufacturers recommendations/specifications, established Methodist Health System policies/procedures and industry-recognized standards. The Senior Biomedical Technician will document all maintenance activities in a timely manner as defined the in the Biomedical Engineering departmental guidelines. Provides guidance and mentors Level I and Level II Technicians as needed on more complex issues/repairs. The Senior Biomedical Technician should be able to plan and schedule maintenance and safety testing on medical equipment/systems. This individual is highly proficient in the use of specialized test equipment, tools, and simulation devices. Installs, maintains, services, troubleshoots and calibrates all medical equipment/systems used in within hospital departments by acquiring and using manufacturer service/technical manuals, technical bulletins, technical procedures/documentation and schematic diagrams. Ensures documentation is current for all maintenance actions in the automated database. The Senior Biomedical Technician will understand the function of the assigned departments and the customers they serve The Senior Biomedical Technician proactively communicates with the departmental representatives without conflict. This individual also understands the MHS mission statement and applies it appropriately. The Senior Biomedical Technician may also be called upon to perform, as needed, the duties of the Biomedical Teamleader. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Education
Requires an Associate Degree in Biomedical Technology or Bachelor Degree in Medical Electronics field to provide supportive and technical expertise to customers (Military and Manufacturer specific training will be considered in lieu of academic certificate).
Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)
CBET certification preferred

Job Roles SR BIO-MEDICAL TECHNICIAN 10711-0308 Instructs, develops, and mentors Technicians that are at Level I & II in order to enhance productivity and their career progression. - Performs administrative duties as assigned to his or her area of responsibility, attends all meetings assigned, writing reports and presenting them to management. Fully complete all paperwork associated with normal duties and enters it into the equipment management system within two working days of work completion. Ensures that work request and planned maintenance activities are completed and associated paperwork is filled out in a timely manner. Actively seeks/attends initial and/or advanced technical training on assigned equipment as determined by the Team Leader to maintain technical proficiency as an ongoing process. - Performs both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on highly specialized, advanced equipment that he or she has been trained on using manufactures guidelines. Performs all duties involved in the repair and support of medical equipment. This includes the removing and installation of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Keeps customers and management informed of equipment status during emergency repairs. Reports on critical equipment uptimes. - Performs electrical safety testing on each piece of equipment serviced using departmental guidelines. Provides technical assistance as needed throughout the corporation during the purchase, operation, installation and upgrade of present and new equipment. - Performs leadership responsibilities as assigned, makes team decisions in the absence of the Team Leader. Supports corporate and hospital policies and procedures. Coordinates scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services and assists Team Leader in quality assurance. - Other duties as assigned -
