Quality Control Manager

Baltimore Role synopsis The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective day to day management of the Quality Control department and associated systems for the purpose of achieving and continuously improving upon superior Quality performance of manufactured and distributed goods from the Baltimore Plant.

This position ensures conformance to the Global Quality Manual and the Global lab Safety Standard, and Quality Policies by providing assurance of the robust application of procedures, work instructions, quality management processes, and kpi’s within the Baltimore Plant. The position is the Baltimore Plant’s principle interface and liaison with the Regional/ Global Product Quality and Product Technology teams/ networks to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing capability and commercialization of lubricant (and related) products to support the business. Key accountabilities Lead the Quality Control team through effective communication and engagement to enable execution of all QC tasks required to deliver against the business objectives for the department and operation.

Directly oversee the execution of the HSSE agenda within the lab area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment for all employees and compliance with company policies, safety standards and government regulations.

Develop, maintain, and ensure full compliance to test & calibration methods and procedures, and ensure accurate records retention for test results in accordance with Global/ Regional/ and Plant Quality policy, standards, and procedures. Participate in network round-robin testing protocols for assurance.

Develop, implement, and provide assurance of quality control and quality assurance processes for the facility to be conducted by “the line” (operations) as well as the laboratory.

Manage product stewardship, stream line, and fusion processes and supports the MSDS process for the site.

Lead (ISO Management Representative) and supports the ISO 9001 (and other as may be required) quality system certifications.

Lead the confirmation (and certification as required) of raw material and finished product specification compliance.

Manage non-conforming product according to policies and procedures via coordination/ notification of off-spec components and/ or finished products products with Regional Quality Assurance.

Lead routine and special process, product, and raw material analyses using chemical, physical, and instrumental methods. Lead variety of tests and analysis which involve wet chemical and/or instrumental methodology. Analyze blend or component failures and recommend corrective actions that lead to continuous improvement within the Plant.

Drive effective SPC (statistical process control) program and RCA (root cause analysis) process
Lead the integration of change initiatives to ensure continuous improvement of processes and systems. engages staff in safety awareness (relative to Global Lab Safety Standard), quality conformance (Global Quality Manual) , and drives Best-In-Class Laboratory practices, policies, procedures, and test methods. Manages performance of the team to deliver/ ensure superior quality control.

Develop and administer the departmental budgets and achieve annual expense against plan with achieving ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Education A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Essential experience and job requirements A minimum of 8 years of practical work experience.

A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a laboratory (leadership/ supervisory experience), in a Team Environment, where coaching, communication, engagement, participation is emphasized/ valued.

Superior leadership skills and associated behavioral attributes.

Ability to drive a Continuous Quality Improvement environment and Best-In-Class laboratory practices.

Experience managing quality/ISO programs and systems.

Proficiency with laboratory techniques and modern analytical instrumentation and LIMS software systems.

Excellent problem solving, mathematical/ analytical, organizational, communication (technical reporting, presentation), skills.

The ability to drive continuous improvement for Best-In-Class performance by optimizing production processes through analyzing current performance, reducing losses /defects and identifying future opportunities. Desirable criteria & qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

MBA Degree.

Six Sigma, Black Belt.

Experience in chemical and petro-chemical industry.

Management of Change experience.

Experience implementing operating in a TQM/ TPM/ Lean Manufacturing principles environment.
