Assigns resources, drives improvements, and develops and formalizes operational plans that affect the quality, manufacture, transfer, and distribution of products to our global customers. Manages, analyzes, and reports on operations methods, processes, equipment, and facilities in light of current operational needs and future strategic objectives. Utilizes Key Performance Measures (KPM’s) to lead continual improvement efforts in employee performance, teamwork, processes, quality and profitability. Detailed Description
  • Overall responsibility for manufacturing and support groups, which consists of manufacturing engineering, maintenance, materials, purchasing, production, tool & die, and shipping & receiving for multiple product lines. Develop Key Performance Measure (KPM) goals and strategic plans to ensure safety, environmental, production volume, cost, quality, and production schedules are met while achieving profitability goals. Specific tasks with the development of operational plans:
  • Develop annual operating plan, goals, and measures of performance with internal group.
  • Target process improvement initiatives in annual operating plans.
  • Review progress against operating plans, and manage by focusing on improving KPM results.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategy, working in conjunction with corporate purchasing, for attaining cost reductions on products.
  • Develop departmental budgets and maintain approved expense levels with monthly review.
  • Work in conjunction with corporate purchasing objectives, for attaining cost reductions on products through lower cost suppliers from key locations, and landed costs analysis.
  • Responsible for optimizing & managing the global raw material/work-in-process inventory levels for all global manufacturing facilities to meet customer demands and achieve inventory turn goals.
  • Determine equipment and facility requirements for all global product lines/divisional manufacturing facilities in order to meet capacity and technology needs and convey these needs to division management and engineering department with adequate justification for capital purchases.
  • Develop global annual operating plan, conduct quarterly global capacity planning/review. Generate scattered site manufacturing analysis and international site strategy development. Develop and implement global procurement strategy, working in conjunction with corporate purchasing, for attaining cost reductions on products through lower cost suppliers from key locations throughout the world, landed costs analysis to determine appropriate sourcing strategy for domestic and worldwide suppliers and quarterly supplier capacity planning reviews.
  • Responsible for developing and executing divisional strategies for all division-relate global manufacturing facilities. This includes identifying and implementing a plan to utilize the proper regional global manufacturing locations to manufacture specific product sets to meet customer expectations, minimize cost, and reduce supply chain time.
  • Responsible for planning & managing the global raw material/work-in-process inventory levels for all global manufacturing facilities to meet customer demands and achieve inventory turn goals.
  • Lead and coach the performance and productivity of all production personnel, which entails making personnel decisions such as hiring/firing, salary, coaching, developing improvement plans, and implementing training programs as well as establishing work schedules for all departments related to production, to create an effective team atmosphere.
  • Responsible for developing the plan and implementing all technology transfers.
  • Develop and drive the implementation of Lean solutions for efficient use of equipment and facilities, emphasis on scrap reduction, set-up time reduction, preventative maintenance, material use, and manufacturing variance for manufacturing facility.
  • Determine equipment and facility requirements for all global product lines/divisional manufacturing facilities in order to meet capacity and technology needs and convey these needs to division management and engineering department with adequate justification for capital purchases.
  • Support product management to achieve new product launch requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices for all groups.
  • Champion the advanced quality planning and implementation of process controls.
  • Effectively communicate with customer service to ensure service levels are meeting the corporate goals and expectations of the customer.
  • Managers have impact on budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change.
  • Involved in developing, modifying, and executing company policies, which affect immediate operations and may have a companywide effect.
  • Generally this level of management is responsible for multiple shifts or three or more functional departments.
  • Supervision is provided directly to Production and Materials departments. May supervise Area Production Managers and/or Production Supervisors. May also be responsible for Manufacturing Engineering. Job Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Engineering Required
  • MBA degree desirable.
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • 10-13 years in field
  • Manages domestic operations with responsibility for global sourcing and determining location for production (US or Intl).
  • Responsible for providing input on budgetary considerations.
  • Effectively utilizes all recommended support tools as needed in current job. - Proficient with advanced features, facilities and functions of available tools. - Can identify and resolve common software and usage problems. - Can describe which office products can interact and how to share data. - Is familiar with considerations for document and data conversion when upgrading to new releases.
  • Has participated on a team using the Flex Gate process. - Has coordinated one's own activities and priorities based upon responsibilities as a project team member in the process.
  • Has knowledge of the laws and requirement of the EPS and other governmental regulatory agencies. - Works on or keeps abreast of environmental committee activities. - Monitors group for compliance to safety rules and guidelines. - Reports all environmental incidents as required by Panduit procedure. - Takes disciplinary action when environmental violations occur.
  • Helps to assess impact of a planned, wide change. - Has applied various change management approaches to the organization. - Has organized and conducted executive-level change management sessions. - Is familiar with a wide range of methods for conducting change processes. - Has integrated change processes with organization business plan. - Has tracked costs and controls to ensure success against business goals.
  • Clarifies and effectively handles multiple concurrent and diverse activities. - Quickly identifies potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments. - Works with or leads others to re-prioritize work and reschedule delivery dates as necessary. - Is able to re-prioritize or re-negotiate changing commitments. - Easily shifts gears from one initiative to another. - Coaches others on prioritization and time management.
  • Has used at least three or more identified quality planning tools during design or testing: FMEA, Control Plan, DOE, Control Chart, Process Capability Analysis, ROI. - Has used appropriate software for quality analysis (Mini-tab) - Has successfully collected data, analyzed results, and provided documentation for activities where quality-planning tools have been used. - Has made changes based upon results of using quality planning tools (process, specifications, test methods, materials, etc.).
  • Has experience working with machinery and tools in a limited (homogeneous) environment. - Uses knowledge acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job. - Can identify relevant technical information, policies and practices. - Has an understanding of operational issues and safety considerations. - Can cite examples of usage in different environments.
  • Develops basic designs, such a sub-assemblies. - Develops original designs and ideas. - Experience with basic design tools.
  • Can discuss the key features, benefits and risks of alternative material options for a single product or product line - Is aware of materials, sources and suppliers utilized by key competitors - Is aware of technology and industry trends as they relate to production materials
  • Has extensive experience managing production operations for multiple product lines and divisions - Has participated in establishing and implementing best practices within production operations such as JIT and/or lean manufacturing, inventory control, quality assurance and resource planning
  • Has knowledge of OSHA safety requirements. - Works on or keeps abreast of safety committee activities. - Monitors group for compliance to safety rules and guidelines. - Reports all safety incidents as required by Panduit procedure. - Takes disciplinary action when safety violations occur.

SUMMARY (PDU): The SMO for PDU manufacturing will develop the internal operations (manufacturing & supply chain) platform, stabilize and deploy globally according to SBU/product line requirements by theater. Approach will ensure ‘configurable offering capability’ and turnaround/lead time responsiveness meeting global customer and market requirements. A key objective is to standardize the global deployment platforms, including best practices to harmonize global operational results while targeting world class performance. A high level of collaboration, service, and proactive responsiveness – notably to the Product Line business, is critical to success.
GLOBAL OPERATION STRATEGIC PLANNING & EXECUTION Create/emulate a PDU operational platform (manufacturing and supply chain); Develop & deploy globally according to SBU/product line requirements by theater:
o Coordinate according to (external supplier) platform; Learn, document and establish detailed plan to emulate globally
o Collaborate with various functional teams (internal and external) to enable successful execution
o Successfully pilot, including developed/documented approach for global scale and deployment
o Achieve Quality, Service/Timing and Cost objectives
Other: Experience - Demonstrated experience in active electronics or electronic component manufacturing
