WSBT-TV has an opening for a part time Digital Content Producer in our newsroom. The primary responsibilities are to ensure the WSBT website and social media sites are constantly updated with fresh, compelling content by writing, editing and posting material in coordination with the newsroom staff. Must be able to write web stories that conform to Associated Press style. Candidate must also be flexible and able to handle additional hours due to severe weather coverage and breaking news situations. Technical proficiency and familiarity with digital media development is a definite plus. A degree in journalism or communications or experience in news writing, copy editing or broadcast production is preferred.

Position Details: The Web producer writes, reports, and edits news stories with a compelling, easy to understand delivery; generates story ideas; provides unique coverage on-line; posts stories and additional content to web sites.

Essential Functions: • Use writing skills for on-line • Write and post website stories, videos, photos• Create eye catching visuals for website traffic (stickiness, click throughs)• Develops and maintains sources• Participates in story selection process through meetings; attendance at editorial meetings is required• Various shift work will be required; Holiday work required• Critique, feedback and training are part of the job• Follow clothing and appearance guidelines• Perform other duties as assigned • Disperse breaking news, competitor’s news to convergence partners

Experience: • 1 – 3 years experience in journalism Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Be able to write clearly and accurately• Must possess excellent interview and conversational writing skills• Produce and post content to our websites• Comprehensive understanding of sports and knowledge of local sports news and athletes• Able to use social media outlets to engage viewers• Strong emphasis on professional social media skills as related to journalism• Must be able to work well under pressure and with limited supervision• Strong initiative and attention to detail is required• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will work well with co-workers, supervisors and viewers• Solid keyboarding skills• Ability to work with Microsoft Office, Paint, Adobe SiteCatalyst Education: • High School Diploma/GED and some college Licensing/Certifications: • Valid Driver’s License.
