The incumbent will develop three-tiered enterprise Java software in support of air quality models and related data. The incumbent should have proven expertise in Java-based software design and development, database design and development, and Tomcat application server deployment. Experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems, Java, SQL , Tomcat or similar application server, database design and development, web-based applications, and with one or more scripting languages (e.g., C-shell, Python, Perl, Bourne shell) is required.. Experience with the software infrastructure for the Sparse Matrix Operator Kernel Emission ( SMOKE ) modeling and the development of US EPA’s Emissions Modeling Framework ( EMF ) software will be considered favorably.
Education and Experience
M.S. or Ph.D.. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent or B.S. degree plus relevant experience. At least 5 years of experience with software design and development is required.
