The 1199SEIU Child Care Funds help healthcare workers balance family and work responsibilities through affordable child care, youth and educational programs. We provide services to unionized workers represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. If you’re ready for the brightest career future, join us in this excellent opportunity to showcase your talents. We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Manager (Accounting / Child Care Programs) f or our Benefit Review and Utilization department .

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Manager of Benefit Utilization and Review (BUR) to ensure department goals are thoughtfully developed, implemented, accurately communicated and achieved at the 1199SEIU Child Care Funds
  • Assist in overseeing and monitoring the review and approval process of child care service provider payments; ensure accuracy and maintain the highest standards of member and provider services
  • Assist with documenting provider payment protocols and procedures; liaison to accounts payable and member payment departments in Finance Division
  • Coordinate and update outreach information sent eligible participants such as: phone blasts, e-mail blasts, workshops, policy and procedures changes that address member needs
  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of procedures and tools to enhance the responsible and efficient management and reconciliation of payments and fiduciary reporting as required by the Funds and external regulatory guidelines
  • Supervise BUR and Voucher staff in accordance with established departmental procedures, Human Resources guidelines to ensure timely delivery of childcare services to members
  • Ensure staff is trained and developed to meet the goals and needs of the department, establish a collaborative team environment, prepare performance evaluations, identify strengths, areas for development, coach and counsel as appropriate
  • Interpret and clarify Fund policies to eligible participants, related organizations, and external entities both verbally and in writing
  • Partner with Fund staff, related entities and external organizations to build understanding of Child Care Fund registration, distribution and enrollment processes, and support the ongoing improvement of these relationships
  • Assists leadership team in the analysis of child care benefits utilization, provider costs and trends
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Management or equivalent years of experience required; plus
  • Minimum four (4) years accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping experience; to include a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience required
  • Basic skill level in Excel and Word required, intermediate knowledge preferred; able to research information and analyze data
  • Knowledge of childcare/youth programs, policies and procedures preferred; non-profit experience a plus
  • Good leadership skills and ability to direct and motivate staff; superb communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills; able to work well independently and as a team player
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to manage complexity, multi-task and meet operational deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintain professional manner and presentation
  • Candidate must be highly organized, and able to support the planning and implementation of multiple projects of the Fund
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays as needed
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
