ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
This individual will participate on a team of highly skilled UNIX system engineers. The team designs, builds, deploys, and supports hardware and operating system infrastructure, SAN, backups and disaster recovery for applications that require 99.999% availability. The environment is fast-paced and requires great organizational skills. The team works very closely with the application engineers and maintains a strong knowledge of the applications as well.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Configure and deploy new server hardware
Configure and deploy solaris and linux operating systems
Configure and manage system backups and disaster recovery
On call support 24X7 in a rotation of 4 other team members
Perform capacity management analysis
Troubleshoot production server and operating system issues in a mission critical 5/9’s environment
Bachelor Degree in a technical discipline and 10 years experience with Linux and Solaris, preferably in production environment or MS Degree and 5 years experience.
Experience and understanding of the telecommunications industry
Willing to work overtime and on-call as necessary to meet organizational needs
