A Board Certified or Board Eligible registered professional physician responsible for delivery of patient care through nationally accepted standards of care. Directs and guides the Emergency Department staff and patients to ensure quality medical care.

Responsibilities:
Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries and diseases, along with available resources in assessment and diagnostic treatment of E.D. patients.

Provide written assessment of patient including documentation of a detailed history and physical examination on the E.D. patient record.

Orders appropriate diagnostic tests, review all results and document findings, orders therapeutic modalities in the best interest of the patients.

Provide patient education, follow-up assignment and treatment of patients discharged from the E.D.

Obtain appropriate consultation for the ED patients.

Provide final medical decision concerning diagnosis/treatment of E.D. patients along with the attending physician.

Physician is actively involved in Quality Assessment Process, including Peer Review activities.

Participate in Department and Hospital activities, meetings and in-service.

Attending meetings with the Emergency Department Clinical Director and other faculty members on a regular basis to determine policy and procedures.

Participates in hospital activities relating to the Emergency Department.

Complies with Hospital and Emergency Medicine regulations concerning Continuing Medical Education, and participation in staff In-service and training.

Maintains efforts to direct and coordinate a safe and efficient environment for all patients and hospital staff.

Job Qualifications:
Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School

Board Certified / Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.

Maintain a current New York State Medical License.

Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.

Good communication skills both written and verbal.

Ability to communicate with physician, staff and patients.

Must be caring and compassionate.
