Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee and according to defined policies and procedures, provides support to the daily operations of the unit and staff.Reports to the Head Nurse.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
We are looking for an energetic individual to help maintain a busy labor and delivery unit. Duties include stocking supplies, cleaning equipment and rooms and communicating with the charge nurse. A successful applicant will have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others on the team. No direct patient care is required.
The hours are overnight, 4-8 hour shifts each week, for a total of 32 hours, with an opportunity to work more hours as needed.
High School graduate or GED equivalent
Ability to read, write and speak English in order to follow simple oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.
Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, visitors and Maine Medical Center employees.
Knowledge of policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, Nursing Services and the Institution.
Physical abilities necessary to walk and stand up to 80% of work time and transport patients and equipment
Minimal computer skills for email and patient tracking.
Ability to recognize needed changes in supply quota levels due to recent usage.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with Nursing Personnel and staff within other hospital departments.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision
