A full-time position is available immediately at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus, to join a multi-disciplinary research group focused on computational genomics. This position is funded 100% by NIH research funding. The successful applicant will provide bioinformatics programming support for a variety of genomics projects related to human disease and genome evolution.
Specific job duties include:
Perl and R programming related to large genomic datasets. Creating new Perl scripts as well as modifying existing scripts.
Analysis of genomic nexgen sequence (NGS) and array CGH datasets
Development of computational tools to facilitate genome analysis
Help with organization and maintenance of lab genomic databases

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelors degree in bioinformatics, computer science or related degree.
Expertise in Perl programming such as BioPerl and CGI/DBI/MySQL, UNIX operating system administration (Debian based), Apache configuration and MySQL administration. Experience in NGS data analysis using tools such as BWA, samtools and ANNOVAR. Proficiency in the use of web-based tools such as UCSC Genome Browser. Familiarity with R, molecular biology, genomics, genome annotation and genomic databases.
Proficiency in HTML and Adobe Photoshop or Gimp
